The Buell Children's Museum opened its doors in 1972 and since has expanded into a two-story, 12,000 square-foot museum dedicated to enriching the lives of children through education and the love of learning. The museum is a part of the Sangre De Cristo Arts Center located in the downtown area. Ranked as the second best children's museum in the nation by Child Magazine, the museum features a wide-variety hands-on exhibits as well as a theatre and an art studio.
